One onsie at a time FOLLOW UP

I wanted to follow up with a recent post of mine. See post here. Just a quick summary, I went through a very significant experience in my life journey, particularly the healing process of infertility.  I went through all my baby boy clothes and prepared baby kits for my dear friend's charity Korah Kids and she took these kits to Ethiopia on a recent trip. She sent me these pictures of some of the bags and recipients. I was in tears when I saw these.

Thank you Darci for all you do and allowing my heart to be healed a little with this beautiful charity.

Brain Dump

Have you heard that term, "brain dump". I have been thinking a lot about it lately. My entire life my brain has been so cluttered and full of thoughts, but I am not that great at the "brain dump" process. After writing my books a couple years ago, I was determined on continuing with writing, then as always, life got in the way.

However, did life get in the way, or did I let life take over my goals and vision? In the fitness industry I constantly hear the excuses of why people don't accomplish their desire to be the healthiest they can be, "life got in the way". Why is that? How can we change this? Why does life have to be the excuse for anything, when inevitably, life will always be there and the only real change comes with priorities and perspective. Its what we do and give to our intentions that cause a real shift in change.

I started this blog about 10 years ago; it began as an outlet to share our experiences with adoption, and an invitation for others to share. A community was being created for the purpose of "brain dumping" for the benefit of helping others. My purpose and platform still echo heavily on our adoption journeys, and I will continue to focus on that. However, I have so many other thoughts and a vision for where I want to go with this, that I have decided to buckle down, refocus my priorities and get into the groove of "life".

In the spirit of refocusing, I am so close to launching my website, a work in progress as all new things are, but I invite you to stay tuned for more to come.

Here are some of my nuggets of knowledge for you to walk away with while you patiently wait for the next adventure with me.

1) Brain Dumping on the daily
Everyday is a work in progress and I feel the only way to breakthrough the mundane is to evaluate your actions daily, letting go of the stuff that won't allow you to move forward and pondering on the things that will allow for growth and inspiration. I have recently gotten into the highly creative way to brain dump with bullet journaling. Recommended!

2) Daily Prayer
No matter who or what your worship is, I am a firm believer in daily prayer. Recently my husband and I were discussing prayer with our children, and how we can pray with more purpose and intent, then just going through the motions. I am fascinated with the things our children come up with in their prayers. Praying from your heart and sharing your thoughts with a higher being is one of the best ways to brain dump, or reevaluate your priorities. In our case, God is our tender listening ear, and I know He hears us. It is evident in the many times someone has reached out to me with an arm, a hand or a shoulder right when I needed it.

3) Physical Fitness
This isn't just the trainer or fitness center owner in me speaking. Yes, I got into the fitness industry business for the purpose of helping others, but one thing I have learned in the past 15+ years is that no matter how hard it is, getting active and getting out there to care for yourself is one of the best and most natural "happy pills" I know of. I speak from so many, very personal experiences. Time and time again I feel a renewed mental focus and physical energy with a regular routine of fitness. Even if just for a walk up the street and back, get out and get active. The shift for me was when I realized that my workouts were doing me more good mentally than anything else I was doing.

I want to keep it simple with just three little things to get you started on a new day, because tomorrow is certainly that new day.
